NAVTEQ has announced the launch of its traffic service in Russia, “delivering comprehensive, real-time traffic information to nearly 16.5 million people in three major cities - Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg.“
According to recent Frost & Sullivan research, 93% of Russian consumers are interested in having access to real-time traffic information.
NAVTEQ’s traffic coverage includes close to 19,000 kilometers of roadways across the three cities, encompassing nearly 16.5 million people, around 13 percent of the total population of the country.
Before just Yandex was main provider for such traffic data service in Russia. Recently Yandex filed for a public offering on NASDAQ under the symbol “YNDX”. The company aims to raise as much as $1.2 billion from the sales of its shares, according to the filing.
